Frode Granhus (b. 1965) suddenly died in his home Friday 15 September. Friends, colleagues and readers are mourning over his tragic death.
Granhus published his first crime novel The Avenger in 2003. “A commendable crime debut with real drive,” wrote the daily Dagbladet. His second book Say a Prayer for Sikas came out in 2006. The Maelstrom (2010) marked his definitive breakthrough, and was the first title in the crime series starring Detective Rino Carlsen. This was followed by The Storm in 2012, The Devil’s Remorse (2014) and The Coffinmaker (2015). The fifth and most recent novel in the series is entitled Shipwrecked and was published in February 2017.
“I believe I have retained the Lofoten crime signature, but this time it probably has a bit more of a lingering psychological crime narrative, where the pace is toned down in favour of mood, atmosphere and (hopefully) a creeping feeling that something is utterly wrong.” – Frode Granhus on Shipwreck
