The Ventriloquist’s Realm: Poems 1997-2017

Pedro Carmona-Alvarez’s The Ventriloquist’s Realm contains the author’s first five poetry collections, from his debut Helter (1997), to Clown Town (2002), Prinsens gate (2004), Sanger for kor (2013), and Samtaler med onkel Nica og tante Viola (2015), as well as new poems.

Carmona-Alvarez’s poetry revolves around themes such as memory, creation, formation, and inheritance. Politics, history, and the social realm are essential elements in poems that move across time and space, speaking from every corner of world history. This multitude of voices forms the core of Carmona-Alvarez’s poetic oeuvre: an ambitious, all-encompassing body of work without parallel in Norwegian—or Nordic—poetry.

The book also includes a conversation about life and writing between Carmona-Alvarez and the critic and author Kaja Schjerven Mollerin.
