The international hit, The Way Through the Woods: On Mushrooms and Mourning, is finally ready for print, with the first publication launching this month in Finland. Followed by Danish, Dutch, and Swedish in September; French, Spanish and Catalan the following months. The final four publications are due next year. Anna Fiske

Anna Fiske (b. 1964) is a Swedish-born writer, illustrator, and cartoonist living and working in Norway. Fiske has a distinct and unique style, both in her literary and pictorial expression, and has been widely recognised for her work, winning several awards and residences. Fiske published a groundbreaking ad-free reoccurring children’s cartoon Rabbel (2005-2009), receiving her first prize as a cartoonist from the Ministry of Culture for her contribution. Fiske has since been the recipient an astonishing number of awards, including another two from the Ministry of Culture, illustrations (2015) and again as cartoonist (2017), and Bokkunstprisen (2014), to name a few. She was also awarded a literary residency through the prestigious Rasmus Løland Litteraturstipend (2014).

Anuradha Roy

Anuradha Roy’s highly praised literary debut, An Atlas of Impossible Longing, is listed by World Literature Today as one of the essential books on India. Since its publication in 2008 it has received internationally recognition, and has been widely translated. Roy has won several literary awards for her second and third novels, The Folded Earth and Sleeping on Jupiter. Her fourth novel All the lives we never lived was published in June to wonderful reviews and has established Roy as one our important contemporary literary voices, playful, lively and sincere.

Arnar Már Arngrímsson

The Saga of Sölvi the Young is Arnar Már’s debut novel. It was nominated for the Icelandic Literary Prize in 2015 and was awarded the Nordic Council Children and Young People’s Literature Prize in 2016. Arnar Már studied Icelandic and German literature at the universities in Reykjavik and Cologne. He has worked as a sailor, a caregiver, and a tour guide. He now teaches Icelandic at Akureyri Junior College.

Bjørn Arild Ersland (born 1965) has written more than 40 books for children and young readers, within fiction and non-fiction. He has been nominated for a large number of awards, including four nominations for Norway’s prestigious “Brageprisen”. Constance Ørbeck-Nilssen /Akin Duzakin (illustrations)

Constance Ørbeck-Nilssen (b. 1954) has studied at the Norwegian College of Journalism in Oslo, as well as the University of Oslo, where she studied pedagogy, and Tromsø Teaching College. She has written several picture books, and has collaborated with illustrators such as Ana Ventura, Hilde Hodnefjeld, Ragnar Aalbu, and Akin Duzakin.
Akin Duzakin (b. 1961) is a graduate of the Norwegian National Academy of Craft and Art Industry in Oslo. He has illustrated over 40 picture books, and written two. He has received the Brage Award twice for picture books made in collaboration with Liv Marie Austrem. He has also received the Department of Culture’s Award for Illustrated Children’s Books twice, and received the Book Art Award in 2006 for his many years of work as an illustrator. Duzakin is particularly well known for his poetic, slightly naivist motives, using a characteristic palette. He displays great figurative abilities and a strong sense of craftsmanship in his work.

Frode Granhus

Frode Granhus wrote from the place he knew best: Home. Granhus worked and lived in Leknes in Lofoten. Granhus lived in the perfect setting for a crime story, and wrote the northern landscape in sublime ways into his wellknown and praised “Lofoten – crime novels”.
Shipwreck became his fifth and sadly last book about Rino Carlsen. Frode Granhus died suddenly, aged 54 years old in September 2017.

The award winning author Gaute Heivoll (b. 1978) made his debut in 2002 with Little dancing boy, a collection of stories. His first novel, Omar’s last days, was published the following year and Lars Saabye Christensen described Heivoll as “a voice to be reckoned with in young contemporary literature.” Heivoll had his big breakthrough with Before I burn in 2010. Since then he has written several books for children and adults. The Rat Catcher From Sorø is his first story told and penned by rats.
