Helle Helle has been nominated for Denmark’s prestigious Politikens Litteraturpris for "Hafni Says".

January 14 2024

The judges write:

“Hafni’s story moves the reader to both laughter and tears. Full of situational comedy and virtuous linguistic humour. Full of sorrow and anxiety all at once conveyed – and assuaged – by Helle’s exceptional language… The disparity between Hafni’s ’prattling’ spoken language (Hafni herself apologises for ‘prattling’) and Helle Helle’s impeccably self-aware written language is part of what gives the novel its enchanting suspense.”

Congratulations, Helle!
