New Helle Helle, plus 3-book deal in the UK

October 9 2024

Great news for all Helle Helle fans! In April 2025, Gutkind Forlag will be publishing a new novel, Hey Hafni, which expands the universe of Helle’s previous novels they (2018), Bob (2021) and Hafni Says (2023).

Hafni’s gone to Brighton for three months to rediscover her zest for life. Brighton is England’s fourth-happiest city – but then her brother arrives. Her quest for alone time takes her via a muddy riverside path, an antique dealer and his wife, a fluorescent green cooperative, Virginia Woolf’s bed, a forgotten pudding, the Wish Tower, a chiropodist, and Our Billy. All while trying to escape “the third hand”. Along the way, she writes letters home to an old friend – who is perhaps the one writing the novel.

We are also thrilled that the brand-new Akoya Publishing has acquired three of Helle’s books for UK English publication: they, Hafni Says, and Hey Hafni. All three books will be translated by Martin Aitkin.
