"The Last Waltz" nominated for the Brage Prize!
The Last Waltz by Pedro Carmona-Alvarez has been nominated for the Brage Prize for best Norwegian fiction! This is a tremendous achievement for a tremendous book, and we couldn’t be happier for Pedro.
From the jury’s motivational statement:
“In a novel of epic proportions, we witness childhood friends Marita, Andreas, and Johannes hurtle through decades and across continents. From their shared beginnings at a youth theater in Bergen in the 1980s, we follow their separate paths: as a nature photographer in Los Angeles, a shady antiques dealer in Iraq, and a former cultural figure navigating the world of international business. Along the way, we discover the places where their lives remain intertwined.
The novel masterfully weaves together the everyday and the epic. The prose keeps the breakneck narrative firmly under control while allowing its ambitious ideas and deeply moving emotions to leap off the page. This is a novel that sinks its claws into you and refuses to let go until the very end."
The winner will be announced on November 26th.
Congratulations, Pedro!
