The Riksmaal Society’s Literature Prize for 2023 is awarded to Pedro Carmona-Alvarez for his novel "Chiquitita"

October 31 2023

The Riksmaal Society’s Literature Prize for 2023 was announced on October 31st.

Chiquitita is outstanding both linguistically and stylistically, and unlike most of what the jury has read,” says jury chair Anne Gaathaug, and continues:

“Pedro Carmona-Alvarez’s depiction trauma of borders on the hypnotic and is, unfortunately, extremely relevant. A painful and powerful tale about how refugee children are marked for life. It’s impossible not to be moved by Marisol’s story and all of the terrible things she’s been subjected to.”

The Prize will be awarded November 27th in Oslo. Congratulations on an important prize and another incredible read, Pedro!
