Ida Frisch joins Winje Agency

August 22 2025

We are thrilled to welcome Ida Frisch as a new author at Winje Agency. Frisch made her debut in 2018 with the acclaimed novel Itch and confirmed her unique voice with the poetry collection Dear Greenland (2022). This autumn brings her striking new novel Black Dog (Tiden, 2025)—a luminous reimagining of the Norwegian coastal tale.

Set on the windswept island of Ytterholmen, Black Dog begins when a mother drowns under mysterious circumstances, leaving a father and two children to continue life alone. Their days are bound to the sea, the sheep, and the harsh mercy of the weather—until the mainland’s factories loom on the horizon, promising change and demanding adaptation.

Frisch writes with the rare precision of a poet; her language is rhythmic, tactile, and charged with original imagery. In this concentrated yet expansive family chronicle, she reinvents the classic Norwegian coastal tale for our time. Black Dog is a luminous novel about faith and future, about longing and resilience, and about what remains when life at the edge of the ocean finally comes to an end.
