Stine Pilgaard

Stine Pilgaard (1984) is a graduate of the Danish Writers’ Academy and the University of Copenhagen. Her first novel, My Mother Says (2012), was a critical and commercial success. It earned her a nomination for the Danish Broadcasting Corporation Literature Prize and won the Debut Novel Prize from the Bodil and Jørgen Munch-Christensen Literature Fund. Songs for Special Occasions (2015) received the Danish Libraries’ Writers Award and a nomination for the Danish Readers’ Book Award. The Land of Short Sentences (2020) was her greatest commercial success to date, with more than 100,000 copies sold in Denmark and sales to 14 markets, and it received multiple awards, including the prestigious Golden Laurel for best novel of 2020. Her newest novel, Ten Wild Horses, will be published in September 2026.
